There’s a buildup to a photo shoot—a preparation. Pulling together ideas and whatever possible to convey a message of the vision that is hoped to be achieved. David is a visionary on his own and had the graciousness to look over my collection of thoughts and help me achieve it with his myriad lenses. He does so in a humble and honoring way. He may have to assert himself to get a shot—or as many as he can despite the limitations—but still has the perfect touch as he sets up each model, eliciting exactly what is needed to achieve our vision. He is this way with everyone around him. His shots capture the moment we wanted and some we didn’t know we wanted until we saw his vision captured on the screen. That’s what’s great about working with David!
Karen Moore - Art Director, American Heart Association
Like most artists, David's passion for the visual arts started at a young age. Fueled by his parents' encouragement and the endless infectious humor of his older brothers, David has always taken those early years of discovering his passion for life and the arts with him.
Soon after studying Radio, Television, and Film; McGhee began shooting for clients in Dallas, Chicago and Los Angeles. After a short time the artist decided to move into corporate-driven work and also began an aggressive set of personal photographic projects that were exhibited in the United States and Europe. The commercial side of the business fed his monetary needs while the photography fed his soul.
While still shooting commercial projects, David developed a multi-lingual project, visual cultura-pan american fotografia. Visual cultura gave opportunity for photographic artists across the Americas to feature their work through a contemporary window.
Currently David specializes working with Fortune 500 companies on studio and location-driven projects. His work has received multiple ADDY awards, been exhibited in one-man-shows in Europe and the U.S., published in America and Asia, and reviewed on several websites across the world. His work has been featured in Photography Served, Behance, Simple Style (China), Definitive Touch Magazine (Canada), Two Birds Films “The Unforseen” (Executive producers Terrance Malick and actor Robert Redford), and Plateform Magazine (France).
